If God is Love….

I got the opportunity recently to throw the Valentine’s party for my daughters class. Since the topic was love and because my children attend a Christian school, I felt like I was supposed to encourage them in two specific ways the enemy is attacking the topic of love and being loved.

  1. God is Love:
In my book “What If We Pray”, I go into this more fully so grab a copy to get the full explanation. Basically, I told the kids that the bible says “God is love” in 1 John 1:8:

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

  2. God loves You:
This may seem simple but God loves you- this is our identity. It is who we are. When we are saved, everything else falls away and this is it. We are His.

We are a:

  • Beloved

  • Adopted

  • Chosen

  • Hand-made

  • Called

  • Equipped

  • Valuable

  • Whole

 son or daughter of God.

Our culture is screaming that we have to earn love and acceptance by finding our identity in other places: “gender”, work, race, sex, beauty, what we contribute, etc. And don't get me wrong these things are important but they aren’t our identity. They aren’t why we are loved and called by God and they are not where our peace and joy is found. They aren’t what makes us worthy or valuable. We each already are.

All we need to truly find the peace the whole world is desperately searching for is Jesus. He is it and He love and wants a relationship with you.

My short version of this point for the kids is that your identity is in Christ and printed out the words listed above. I prayerfully tied a word and verse to a balloon on each kids chair. Which one of these words do you need to be reminded of today- write it down and meditate on it throughout your day and be honest with yourself- do you truly believe it?

Ask God to help you!

Blessings,
Lacey
